Proud parent, lifelong educator, proven leader, and community champion!

Throughout Sarah's first term as a school board trustee, she has pushed for access to an exceptional learning experience for all students, worked tirelessly to find a top-notch superintendent, voted to lower the tax rate for citizens, supported annual 4% raises for all AISD employees, and strengthened school district/community connections. Sarah has volunteered hundreds of hours advocating for the children of AISD at local and state levels, and she was unanimously voted by her colleagues to serve as board secretary.

Sarah brings insight straight from classrooms into the school board's discussions and decisions. After 12 successful years teaching elementary school in AISD, Sarah McMurrough is serving her fourth year as a districtwide literacy coach who holds a special passion for empowering teachers and fostering a love of literacy for all students. Sarah is a dynamic, award-winning educator who leads with energy, innovation, integrity, a listening ear, and solutions. As an Arlington native and mother of two young children (including a fourth grader at Little Elementary in AISD), she is personally committed and vested in the success of our school district. Sarah puts children and their families at the forefront of her service as a board member, and that means putting educators at the forefront as well.
